great expectations
it's not fair to expect great things from anyone but myself.
it's not even fair to expect passable performance.
but that doesn't make it feel any better.
it's actually gotten to the point that i feel like if i want something done well, maybe i should do it myself. doesn't matter if it seems menial or drudgework. does that sound bad?
maybe i shouldn't go any further with this
anyway, it's been an ok day so far.
and bang's high school graduation is tomorrow. and i'm freaking proud of him.

Summer?
It almost seems like summer. The sky is clear, there seems no trace of wind (from my vantage point at ramcar, looking out the window). It's about 8:15 in the morning, so there aren't too many people at the office yet.
There's this weird silence and it is only accentuated by the peaceful view.
It makes me feel that nothing could possibly go wrong today. Not wrong enough to make me ungrateful for this day.
Here I am, just typing away at a blog post, nobody to disturb me while I listen to my favorite music or surf the net.
That and knowing i have a tomato and mushroom omelette in my bag.
Ahh... the simple pleasures in life. All that's lacking is my reading a good book, which I have in my bag as well.
Life is good.

Reach Out and Touch
performed by Diana Ross and the Supremes
Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
(just try)
Take a little time out of your busy day
To give encouragement
To someone who's lost the way
(just try)
Or would i be talking to a stone
If i asked you
To share a problem that's not your own
We can change things if we start giving
Why don't you
Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
(just try)
If you see an old friend on the street
And he's down
Remember his shoes could fit your feet
(just try)
Try a little kindness you'll see
It's something that comes very naturally
We can change things if we start giving
Why don't you
Reach out and touch
Why don't you
(why don't you)
Reach out and touch somebody's hand
Reach out and touch somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
Reach out and touch
Somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
If you can
what a nice song.
it tells us a lot about what is missing in our society today.
it shows that we can make a difference in small ways.
doesn't it remind you of the kid who was walking along a shore throwing starfish back into the water. a guy comes up to him (i dont remember if it was a saint) and asks "Why are you doing that? You won't be making a difference."
the kid picks up another starfish and throws it. he then says "Made a difference to that one!"
